George R. 'Bob' Cox
George R. 'Bob' Cox 87, of Frankfort, IN died on June 30, 2008 at 8:50 am, at home surrounded by family after an illness of one month. He was born on November 23, 1920 in Tipton, IN, the son of Walter and Esther (Sumner) Cox. He married Esta Avery on October 6, 1946 at the Michigantown Christian Church. Mr. Cox was a 1940 graduate of Tipton High School and his family moved to Frankfort during WWII. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, he served from 1940-1945, where he was an airplane crew chief stationed at Pearl Harbor and in the Midway Islands. He retired as a cheif engineer from Frankfort Power and Light Plant. His memberships include: First Christian Church, where he served as deacon and trustee, Moose Lodge, American Legion, Pearl Harbor Survivors Association (one of two in Clinton County), and was Scout Master of Troop 320 for 10 years. Bob constructed two homes on Lake Freeman and enjoyed spending time at the lake with family; he also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards and reading.
Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, July 03, 2008 at Goodwin Funeral Home, Frankfort, IN with Pam Ditson-McCall and Brad Fullerton officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Cox will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Frankfort, IN. Memorials may be made to: First Christian Church and Clinton County Cancer Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.

7 Grandchildren, Brian (Danielle) Cox of Greenwood, Gretchen (Mitch) Reed of Burnettsville, Alison (Rob) Coble of Burnettsville, Chad (Michelle) Henricks of Yeoman, Clint Cox of West Lafayette, Mark and Spencer Cox of Tipton.
3 Great Grandchildren, 2 Sisters-in-law, 2 Brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by 4 sisters and one brother.
